Korean Comics: A Society through Small Frames features works by twenty-one of North and South Korea's most talented cartoonists, drawn from the 1950s to the 1990s. On display in the Museum's Teaching Gallery, this collection of comics provides a decade-by-decade glimpse at the evolving social realities in contemporary Korea, ranging from popular children's entertainment to aggressive forms of political commentary.
This exhibition is organized and curated by The Korea Society as part of their traveling exhibition program. The exhibit is cosponsored by Washington University's East Asian Studies Program, and is presented in conjunction with the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs.

Teacher Workshop: Envisioning Asia in the K-12 Classroom
Saturday, October 13, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
This day-long workshop conducted by the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs (in cooperation with the International Educational Consortium and the Cooperating School Districts of St. Louis) will introduce effective strategies for teachers to employ contemporary films and popular graphic media in the classroom. The workshop focuses specifically on the importance of graphic novels, comics, and animation in Korea and Japan, and will utilize works on display in the Korean Comics exhibition.
