A classic of the film noir style, The Third Man (1949, directed by Carol Reed) follows pulp novelist Holly Martins (Joseph Cotton) as he travels to shadowy postwar Vienna, only to find himself investigating the mysterious death of an old friend, black-market opportunist Harry Lime (Orson Welles).
Held in conjunction with the exhibition John Stezaker, the Fringe Figure Film Series features titles selected by the artist that are representative of themes relevant to his practice.
