Inscription On the verso of each component are three sets of codes, the artist's signature, and the artwork date. The information is consistently written in relatively the same places by a number of hands in red, black, blue, and black marker ink. The “size” code is written in the upper right corner in red marker: M-1, M-2, M-3, and M-4. M-1 is written on the three components measuring 20 3/16 x 16 3/16 x 1 3/4", including: 1-J-20-A, 1-A-1-A, and 1-F-21-A. M-2 is written on the two components measuring 18 3/16 x 12 3/16 x 1 3/4", including: 2-B-6-A and 2-G-1-A. M-3 is written on the three components measuring 17 3/16 x 10 1/8 x 1 3/4", including: 3-H-6-A, 3-C-11-A, and 3-E-19-A. M-4 is written on the two components measuring 16 3/16 x 13 1/8 x 1 3/4", including: 4-D-16-A and 4-I-11-A. The second code is written at center below the embedded hanging wire in black marker: Number-Letter-Number-Letter. The first number (1, 2, 3, 4) corresponds with the “size” code (1=M-1, 2=M-2, and so forth). The meanings of the first letter and second number are currently unknown, but they could indicate something about the component’s color or size. The last digit is the same on all ten components: the letter A. The third code is written at center in blue marker ink below the second code. The number “10.1” is on each of the ten components. Presumably this code refers to the set. The artist’s signature is written at lower center in black marker. The signature is mostly comprised of the first initial of the artist's given name and a scribbly surname. The artwork date “1982/91” is inscribed below the signature in a different ink on all of the components but 4-D-16-A, where it is written on the same line as the signature.
