American, Born 1952

Primarily a glass artist, Sonja Blomdahl studied at Orrefors Glass Studio in Sweden after earning her BFA at the Massachusetts College of Art in 1974. In 1983, she established her own hot glass studio in Seattle, Washington, where she has worked and taught ever since.

Her work is known primarily for a striking relationship between color and form. Blomdahl is represented in the collections of the American Craft Museum of New York, the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Renwick Gallery of the National Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Decorative Art in Prague.
