American, Born 1954

Michael Byron earned a BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1976, followed by an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1981. Byron currently lives and works in St. Louis, where he is Associate Professor of Art and Area Coordinator for Undergraduate and Graduate Painting Programs at Washington University in St. Louis.

His work has been exhibited across the United States and Europe, including venues such as the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, New York’s Museum of Modern Art, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. He has received many awards, including a 1989 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Byron was also included in the 1989 Whitney Biennial.
