American, Born 1941

Sculptor Michael Hall studied at Western Washington State College until 1960 before completing his bachelor's degree at the University of North Carolina in 1962. After completing his Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture at the University of Washington in 1964, he took a position teaching ceramics and sculpture at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He also taught at the University of Kentucky, until joining the faculty of the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan from 1970-90.

Hall's minimalist sculptures have earned him several awards, including fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He has exhibited at the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art as well as the Whitney Annual Sculpture Exhibitions of 1968 and 1973.
