On Saturday, August 15, 2020, the Kemper Art Museum hosted a live online conversation about the importance of international travel and exchange to American art in the Gilded Age. Nicole Williams, honorary guest scholar and postdoctoral teaching fellow (2019–2020) in the Department of Art History & Archaeology in Arts & Sciences, was joined by Angela Miller, professor in the Department of Art History & Archaeology, for this discussion on American art of the late nineteenth century and how its modern, multicultural spirit also announced the country’s emerging status as a global power. Meredith Malone, associate curator, moderated the event.
