Gallery Talk: “Edition MAT and Marcel Duchamp”
Ideas of reproduction, transformation, and wide distribution were central to the artistic practice of Marcel Duchamp. On April 25, 2020, Alexander Kauffman, Andrew W. Mellon–Anne d’Harnoncourt Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Meredith Malone, associate curator at the Kemper Art Museum, examined Duchamp's embrace of replication as a means to rethink the work of art while undercutting accepted notions of originality and authenticity.
