Spanish artist Jaume Plensa discusses his process, public art, and the origins of Ainsa I, the site-specific sculpture is located at the south entrance to Washington University’s Bauer Hall and Knight Hall. It was commissioned as part of the university’s Art on Campus program, which sets aside one percent of eligible Danforth Campus capital projects and renovations for public art. The program is administered by the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts.
